DEARBORN — Karl Fava of Dearborn is the Henry Ford Community College Foundation’s ‘Distinguished Volunteer’ for 2011.
This designation was part of HFCC’s participation in the Nov. 16 National Philanthropy Day (NPD) Banquet, during which Fava was honored, along with other distinguished volunteers from Southeastern Michigan nonprofit organizations.
Fava has been a member of the HFCC Foundation Board of Directors since 1998. He has served as chair for a two-year term and headed up the foundation’s executive, Nominating and Finance committees.
“Karl has been an outstanding foundation director,” said John Lewandowski, executive director of the HFCC Foundation. “In addition to his committee work, he has played an important role in obtaining several major contributions for HFCC, most recently for the Science Center Campaign,” Lewandowski added.
Fava is founder, owner and president of Business Financial Consultants, Inc., a Dearborn firm specializing in financial, tax, valuation and management of closely held businesses and their owners. A Certified Public Accountant, his previous experience includes working for KMPG Peat Marwick and Deloitte & Touche public accounting firms.
