Dearborn-based accountant Karl Fava donated $12,000 to the Henry Ford College Foundation. Fava’s $12,000 is part of a larger donation of $26,000 to the foundation.
In late December, to help generate additional revenue for HFC, Fava – an experienced mountaineer – proposed a challenge to the foundation board of directors. He said he would contribute 50 cents for every foot he would climb on Aconcagua, the highest mountain outside of Asia. It is in the Andes mountain range in Argentina and has an elevation of 22,841 feet. Aconcagua is the highest point in both the Western and the Southern hemispheres.
Meeting Fava’s challenge were 15 individuals and area businesses, including several foundation board members and HFC President Stan Jensen. They 15 raised the other $14,000.
“I am very proud and humbled to see how many people stepped up to meet Karl’s challenge and donated a significant amount of money to the college,” said Reginald Best, HFC Vice President of Development. “On behalf of the foundation, I offer my sincere thanks.” Read more…………….
